Which registrations does my business need?
Typically, you will be required to register for payroll taxes if you operate a business and employ one or more employees in their applicable work state(s). Failure to comply with the state’s registration guidelines in a timely manner can result in fines and penalties.

Typically, the conversation around tax registration needs will begin between a business and their payroll provider. If you are ever unsure on if a certain registration may or may not be required, we recommend reaching out to your payroll provider for clarity.
That said - in most cases Middesk will handle two aspects of your payroll registration needs:
Withholding tax (WH)
Unemployment Insurance tax (SUI)
Additionally, Middesk is able to support select local, regional, or specialized tax registrations in certain states depending on your payroll provider.
