What is Third Party Authorization (TPA)?
Third Party Authorization (TPA) is the legal permission granted to a payroll provider so they can file your business’s taxes on your behalf. In order for your payroll provider to be able to file on your behalf, and manage the agency tax accounts set up by Middesk - the business will need to ensure they’re granting TPA to their payroll provider.
Occasionally referred to as “assigning POA” (power of attorney), this process varies state by state and agency by agency. Given this, and the fact that TPA is required directly by payroll providers, Middesk is unable to provide specific instruction on assigning TPA.
If you are unsure if this process is complete, or need help completing TPA, we would strongly recommend reaching out to your payroll provider for support. However, because the TPA process often requires access to agency accounts, please feel free to reach out to our support team at agent@middesk.com should you require assistance in accessing your account or finding the credentials.
