What mail does Middesk manage for me?

Edited

Middesk automatically receives and digitizes all mail sent from state tax agencies to a business. Whether it's confirmation documents of your registration, or a tax notice, this mail can contain a variety of information.

Middesk will mark your mail, depending on the contents, with a few different tags and/or statuses, labeled as such within the Communications section of your Middesk dashboard. For further understanding of these statuses, please see below.

Any mail from a tax agency will be managed by Middesk in the same manner - the only exception being checks. Refund checks from tax agencies are the one form of mail Middesk will ensure reaches you physically. When we receive a check on your business's behalf, we will reach out to reconfirm the best shipping address before forwarding it along for your access.

Virtual Mail Statuses

You will see one of the following statuses assigned to your incoming virtual mail:

  • Action required: This status indicates that the employer must take action related to the information in the piece of mail.

  • No action required: This status indicates the employer does not need to take action on the information in the piece of mail. This status is also used for scam messages that our team detects.

  • Managed by Middesk: This status indicates that the Middesk team will be taking action on any required steps contained in the piece of mail. The agency involved has likely requested some action be taken, but in these cases that action can be taken by our team without needing customer input.

For further questions on what mail is managed by Middesk, or if you have inquiries about individual pieces of mail, please feel free to contact our support team at agent@middesk.com.
